Hello Ling,

I came across your profile while browising through Nikon's site. Very impressive photography. Like the slogan of Nikon, you have brought the viewer to the heart of the image. Enjoyed browsing these wonderful photos. Keep up the good work.

Great pictures you took.
And actually i kind of respect you for what you do.
It's amazing to capture those unguarded moments by the animals and share them with the public.
Not to mention the danger that you'll face.
I almost got attacked by a monkey while shooting just now.
xD
Lucky a lot of aunties were there to save me.

What's the closest danger you ever encounter?

Hi Kazaf,

Thank you! The thing with wildlife photography is to learn how to approach the animal without scaring them. For monkeys, never give them direct eye contact, they will think you are challenging them for a fight ( esp if it happens to be an alpha male ).

For me it's the small things that scares me... like ticks, leeches, etc...
I was once trekking inside the Borneo rainforest. A leech was on my leg and my friend when to lit a lighter on it to get rid of it. My whole leg burst into flames as we forgot that i had put on insect repellent earlier and that it's flammable! We managed to put out the fire, and i didn't sustain any burns ( the oil based repellent kinda acts as a protective layer between the fire and my skin. The leech was nowhere to be found and my leg became really smooth, lol!

It's pretty scary to think about it now as there was no one else in the area except us. Would be tough to get help if things go bad.

Whao.. I guess i would call that "应祸得福"
Anyway never thought of doing a macro shoot of the leech that's on your leg before burning it away? I'm just kidding.

By the way the monkey that i was shooting was a baby monkey.. did no eye contacts but the mother monkey went aggressive with me. Guess she thought i was holding a gun or something.

Hi Ling,

I just love your website, both design and photography. Great job! :) I will definitely check back regularly.

Too bad I missed your photo exhibition at Sentoso... I just got back from a trip to Singapore! I hope to catch it another time. :)

Best wishes!

Hello Ling!!!

Not only are your pictures awesome, they reveal you - your inner person. I think you are a very beautiful person inside. If there is ever an opportunity to get to meet/know you in person, that would be a most wonderful thing in my life.

Keep shining, and smiling as you click away!

Best to you, always,
Dennis
