Back from Borneo in the afternoom… feeling totally exhausted, i stumbled to the front door and hauled my lugages indoors… conveniently plonked myself onto bed… and then…. * knock, knock, dril, hammer, hammer… DRILLLLLLLLL….. =_= My block is undergoing lift-upgrading, has been for the past few months and completion date is gonna be next year.
Oh well, that’s Singapore for you. Anyway, the trip has been wonderful! Learnt alot of new things, shot more flight shots, trekked a herd of more than 90 pygmy elephants! Great company, great nature… all the peace and quiet that i needed. All the stars and fireflies twinkling through the nite and wishing on shooting stars… it’s been a great adventure! Will update more when i get the group photos from szekiat and vinc… my willing porters… ![]()

Herd of 90! That’s quite large for a forest animal! What kind of habitat were they in? It seems some biogeographical (perhaps nutrient-related) barrier is keeping them from expanding their range on the island.

yes it is… i think two neighbouring herds have gathered together to cross the river to the other side of the bank for food. There’s around 4 major herds in the north-east area of Borneo. No where else… kinda puzzled too… the herd that i’ve encountered for the past two trips have been grazing along the kinabatangan river. i think part of the reason why they didn’t move to the other areas may because of human settlement and plantations. there has been conflicts there between the elephants and plantations.
