Inner Geek

Sunday, February 25th, 2007

The geek in me had propelled me to swap another 7 photography magazines off the racks of Kino this afternoon! Set back another 60+ bucks on my bank account. But, that’s gonna be used for research… so that’s a good excuse for the splurge. :P The libraries in Singapore are getting lousy. The magazine section has been pretty naked this year. Lots of titles have gone missing! *sulks*

The inner vainpot in me has been nagging me to get some new things to adorne myself for ages but apparently, that never happened. And so the nagging continues at the back of my head….

Anyway, settled my late lunch at Mos Burger and i only ordered the Ebi Rice Burger despite several attempts by the Mos Burger auntie to make me order more ( yes, i was trying to save money after the big splurge… >_< ) But something she did really touched me. After i got the burger, she asked if i want a cup of water.. awww, so sweet! and she even specify that it’s distilled water. I’ve already got a small bottle of water in my bag, but since she offered…. i accepted it :) It’s the small gesture of kindness that touches me greatly. Most restaurants these days are skimpy on water these days, charging 50cents to a dollar for a cuppa water!

Burnt!!!!

Monday, January 29th, 2007

Woke up at 7AM, finish some work, and it’s out of the house by 9AM to Kranji for photo-shoot.

It took me a while to find the White-bellied Sea Eagles. There were 2 of them! But the nest was way way inside the forest so i’ve only managed to get flight shots. Bee-eaters were way too skittish to take a good shot of. And then there was this “gangster-looking” guy who kept following me around while i shoot. When i stopped, he stopped. When i walked, he walked. =_= And when i was shooting the eagles, he exclaimed”wah”… I think this is the first time he notice there are eagles in Singapore… Actually, i think most people wouldn’t notice what’s up in the sky anyway. I think he followed until he was very tired and sat down at some rocks and then i think after awhile he decided to give up. haha…. No worries anyway, i have my tripod :P
Lie down at a bench and enjoy the wind and sun and watching the glistering waters. Enjoyed the silence very much  seems like time have slowed down and i’m just soaking up the whole environment.

And yup, was too soaked up in the sun that i got quite severely sun burnt! 6 hours of shooting later and now i look like a roasted piglet  it was terrible! sigh…. Should have remembered to put on sun block. The weather has been so cool lately… didn’t thought of sun block, only thought of umbrella…. =_= Now i have like a heart-shape sun burn under my collarbone and my whole arm and part of my back are scorching red.

I really hate it when i do silly things like that and end up making myself suffer for no reason. =_= Ouch…. :(
I’m feeling cold but my skin feels so hot. brrrrr…..

Time and memories

Sunday, January 14th, 2007

It’s been about a week since i’ve used the new lift. Still feels kinda strange reaching exactly on my floor without having to climb any flights of steps. I need some excercise  It’s kinda weird too when you are in the lift, and u can see the outside through the glass panels… and then a face suddenly appears ( people waiting for lift ). i’m really not used to this kinda lift…. no privacy :P

BBQ 10-year class reunion ( secondary school ) today was a wet one, rather cold too. In the end, the BBQ pit serves as a “fireplace” for us  Can’t believe it’s been 10 long years! one just came back from Cambodia, two just came back from China ( me and another ) and another one flying off to Aussie land next month for studies. Some worked for a few years and then it’s back to study, most are still in Uni. Quite a few newly attached and maybe a couple hearing wedding bells soon.

Really can’t believe  how fast time just flew by and everyone walking on different paths, and yet today, all our paths met on the same ground, enjoying the drizzle and warm fire. Lotsa food and laughters to go around. One things for sure, we will all cherish the good old memories and looking forward to the next gathering to come

This Year - 2006

Sunday, December 31st, 2006

And once again, it’s the end of the year and on to 2007. Seems to me that everytime around this time of the year, i’ll start to recollect on what had happened for the past year. A time for reflection… a time for being grateful for everything that has happened in the past and moving on and embracing the new year.

Come to think of it…. as of 31st Dec 11:59:59PM, We would have all lived for 365 days since last year… that’s 8760 hours = 525600 minutes = 31536000 secs of fun, laughter, adventure, excitement, happiness, tiredness, sadness, countless hurdles, challenges and lessons learned! Something we should all be proud of, isn’t it? ^_^

Jan - March 2006
Many important things happened during this period…

My first trip to Borneo, to Sarawak. The first time in my life i’m actually venturing out into unknown territory. So unknown to me that while trekking 8km in the forest, my whole leg went up in flames when my friend lit the lighter after i sprayed insect repellent on my leg to get rid of a leech. Something i would remember for the rest of my life…. Insect repellent = flammable
