Natural wonders right by my doorstep

Witnessed a natural wonder right by my doorstep this evening. Huge flocks of thousands of Pacific and Barn swallows have been flying past my neightbourhood lately during the early mornings and late evenings. But on this particular stormy evening, the swallows decided to take shelter right in front of my house, on my clothing lines!

I live up on the 9th storey. Lucky me get to see them flying at eye-level  It was quite a spectacular sight and an interesting experience as well! Photographing birds at night for the first time in the middle of a thunderstorm. When i was looking at the photos on my computer later on, i realized that the rain drops that was captured in mid air looks like tiny stars dotted across the black velvet sky! The swallow seems like they were lining up for a star-gazing session!

Somehow, looking at these images seems to have a calming effect over me. It seems the swallows are at peace with themselves, just patiently waiting the rain out and admiring the raindrops and being one with Nature. These images are definately something different, and they will always hold a special place in my heart.

A bird that does the moonwalk! u’ve got to see this! omg, haha! i wonder if MJ got his inspiration from this bird

All that noise, and all that sound,
All those places I got found.
And birds go flying at the speed of sound,
to show you how it all began.
Birds came flying from the underground,
if you could see it then you’d understand…

Send them back home

100 orangutans have been illegally smuggled to end up in boxing shows for public entertainment ( or should a say amusement? ) in Bangkok, Thailand. And it’s been years since plans and talks and promises have been made by the Thai government that they will return back to their home in Indonesia. Yet nothing has been done up until now and the Thai officials argued that insufficient funding is the cause of delaying the return of these orangutans.

Is that corruption or what? I’m just totally disgusted. The 7th primate of the world is the reason of this environmental apocalypse. Yes, i’m talking about Homo sapiens, the most enormously abundant of all primates, taking on the world while the other 6 species are facing extinction. Smart? i don’t think so. Coz when all the forest and animals are wiped out, we WILL face the ULTIMATE extinction.

Please sign the petition 1 and petition 2 Every bit of effort helps. Just 1 minute of your time to do something meaningful, today. 3 more orangutans there have died 3 days ago…. it’s a race against time….
